HomeNews Flash Search All categories Home Tools RSS Notify Me® Categories All Categories Home News Flash Home Posted on: July 25, 2018City Seeks Lodging Representative for Lodging Tax Advisory Committee The City of Bainbridge Island is seeking one lodging representative to serve on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC).   Applicants must be a representative from a Bainbridge Island merchantry that collects lodging taxes. Eligible individuals must wield online on the City website by tropical of merchantry on Friday, August 17.  The Lodging Tax Advisory committee is responsible for recommending awards from the City’s Civic Improvement Fund, a fund created through a state tax on overnight stays in lodging establishments (i.e., hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts). These funds can be used to support projects to promote tourism, for event operations or marketing, or for operating expenses for tourism facilities owned by nonprofits. For the upcoming 2019 ribbon cycle, this committee will help to provide City support in the value of $260,000 for local projects.  A list of past projects is misogynist on the City’s website.  Volunteers on LTAC will review funding proposals and recommend ribbon allocations. The structure of the committee is specified by RCW Chapter 67.28 and Bainbridge Island Municipal Code 3.65.040. Two volunteers must be representatives from Bainbridge Island businesses which collect lodging taxes, and two volunteers must be representatives of businesses or agencies authorized to receive lodging tax funding.  City Councilmembers Rasham Nassar and Matthew Tirman will act as co-chairs on the committee.
